Since
Chase was 2 years old, he's known that he
wanted to be a musician for the rest of
his life. His first experience on the stage
was at the age of 2 when he performed a
"guitar solo" with his plastic
guitar as his father Mark, older brother
Blaine (then 5) and close friend sang "Somewhere
Out There" at a Given's Dance Studio
spring recital. From that moment, Chase
was hooked! In 1989, Chase's dad Mark convinced
his life long friend Mike Taylor (now of
the Holiday Band) to allow Chase and Kyle
(who was 3) to perform at the North Carolina
State Fair. They would perform 3 songs every
few hours during the weekends promoting
Piano & Organ Distributors and the Yamaha
Clavinova Keyboard. To the surprise of many,
what was known that year as "Chase
& Orchestra" was a tremendous success,
as many Clavinovas were sold, and the boys
were asked to return the following year
and continued to perform at the State Fair
6 consecutive years following. In 1990,
with the addition of older brother Blaine,
they took on the name "Boys Club"
at the same time baby brother Taylor was
born. When the youngest Given, Kerri, was
born in 1993 the boys knew that one day
an adjustment would have to be made in the
name. When Kerri joined the group in 1998,
the name was changed to "Boys Club
& a Babe." |

Chase
continued to study guitar as well and as
trumpet and has in the last few years learned
the piano. After receiving State Honors
as a Trumpet Player, and attending ECU's
Music school, Chase has continued to hone
his skills as a musician. Fast forward a
bit of time, in October 2002, Chase left
to serve as a missionary for the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in
Sacramento, California. After only a few
months, Chase unfortunately fell ill and
returned home to North Carolina. What seemed
to be a tragic experience caused the beginning
of many amazing experiences. Chase then
studied at Halifax Community College as
a sociology student for a semester. In the
early spring of 2003, Boys Club & a
Babe began recording their summer release
"Keepin' it Alive". As Chase co-produced
that album for the band with his father
Mark, Fred Shaw, Johnny Barker, and the
rest of Boys Club and a Babe, engineer and
producer Fred Shaw saw that Chase had his
barings on recording and offered him a job
at BradleyHouse Studios running the B-Room.
Chase accepted the offer quickly and moved
to Florence, SC the following week. In his
short tenure with BradleyHouse, he produced/engineered
a full gospel project for Bill Pinkney &
the Original Drifters. In addition, Chase
engineered music for Maurice Williams &
the Zodiacs, as well as Billy Scott &
the Prophets, Clay Brown, and many more.
These experiences with these artists and
becoming a Pro-Tools engineer showed Chase
a new facet of his life that he wanted to
explore more. After leaving BradleyHouse
Studios, Chase knew that he wanted to take
his experiences as a record producer/engineer
home with him and to the people of Eastern
North Carolina. Are you still paying attention
to this... wow, you should be commended.
Anyway, In early 2004 after returning to
East Carolina University to study Elementary
Education and then Business, Chase decided
to form G-Force Web Designs at the request
of his friend, Kelly Harrison, owner of
the Beach Music Reporter. Around the same
time, Chase built G-Force Studios in Greenville,
NC. His desire was to record National quality
recordings, for those on a budget. Building
a full Pro-Tools studio was no easy feat,
but well worth the gain in seeing his clients
see many of their dreams come true! In the
fall of 2004, Chase met what he now knows
to be the love of his life in Shelly Haug.
Chase and Shelly were married for Time and
all Eternity on December 28, 2004 in the
Washington D.C. Temple of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In August 2005, Chase joined the Cammy Award
winning Holiday Band. Chase has the opportunity
to sing, play his horns, and a little keyboard
with the band, and participate as co-musical
director. In the late summer of 2006, Chase
began working on his debut solo cd to be
released in the Spring of 2007. Chase left
the Holiday Band on January 1, 2007, returning
to Boys Club & a Babe as well as persuing
his solo career. Boys Club & a Babe
is booking bigger and better gigs than ever
before, and has a show that is better than
ever before! Chase and Shelly continue to
reside in Greenville, NC, as he continues
to perform on the road with Boys Club &
a Babe, as well as record, while she studies
continues studying at ECU! Phew, that was
long... Thanks for reading this! |
